Dorothy J. Dunham

Dorothy J. Dunham, age 87, of Pelican Rapids, MN formerly of Ulen, MN, passed away to her heavenly home on Monday, May 5, 2025, at Essentia Health Hospital in Fargo, ND.
Dorothy Jean Ronngren was born August 3, 1937, in Jamestown, ND, the daughter of Arnold and Emma (Baanna) Ronngren. She spent her formative years near Jamestown before moving to Barnesville, MN, at age 11.
Dorothy graduated from Barnesville High School in 1957. Following graduation, she lovingly babysat for numerous families. Her greatest family being the owners of KSTP of Minneapolis, MN, where she was able to travel with them. In 1967, Dorothy was united in marriage to Dennis Dunham, whom she had met at a singles club. They made their home together on the family farm. rural Ulen.
Dorothy loved the farm life, all the animals and loved being called a farmer's wife. They were married over 45 years before Dennis' death on January 5, 2013. Dorothy remained in their home until last year when she moved to Pelican Rapids, to be closer to family.
Dorothy enjoyed listening to the radio and loved to visit with people, often meeting as strangers and parting as friends. Her special hobby was knitting. She had a very quiet way of talking about Jesus to special women friends she'd meet. First, she would ask for their birth month and then knit a personalized pin cushion. Then she would attach a tract and bring the pin cushion to them when she saw them again. Dorothy was a woman of steadfast faith and she was proud to have been a member of Walworth Baptist Church for 50+ years.
Dorothy is survived by a sister, Donna Oyama of Boston, MA; brother-in-law, Gerald Grefsrud of Pelican Rapids; sister-in-law, Ileen Ronngren also of Pelican Rapids; in addition to many Baanna and Ronngren cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dennis; a sister, Elaine Gresfrud; a brother, Donald Ronngren; and a brother in-law, Alvin Oyama.

A funeral service was held on Monday, May 12, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Walworth Baptist Church rural Ulen, MN. The burial took place at Walworth Baptist Cemetery rural Ulen.
