Pelican Rapids native Lonnie Hovland, a “threatened species” as a manual typewriter repairman, with an Olympia SM-3 manual typewriter. The 1958 unit, which had been stored underneath a bed and barely used, was presented to Pelican Rapids Press managing editor Louis Hoglund as a gift.
