New hunters: Finish safety training in a single day Local course to be held April 4

March 05, 2026

Aspiring hunters in the Pelican Rapids area have a chance to complete their safety training in one day. A four-hour hunter safety education course is scheduled for Saturday, April 4, combining classroom instruction and hands-on field practice.

The combined classroom and field approach allows hunters to finish their safety certification in a single day while receiving both theoretical knowledge and practical shooting experience.

The course begins at 7:30 a.m. The classroom portion runs from 8 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. at Dunn Town Hall, located at 47979 East Lake Lizzie Road in Pelican Rapids.

After the morning instruction, participants travel to the Dunvilla Shooting Club at 21863 State Highway 34 at 11:30 a.m. for the practical field day component. The field portion continues until all participants complete the required exercises.

Organizers will provide snacks and a hearty lunch for all participants.

Attendees should bring completed paperwork from their Minnesota Department of Natural Resources hunter safety coursework. Organizers strongly recommend dressing for unpredictable weather, as the field day takes place outdoors regardless of conditions.

Questions about the course can be directed to Tyler Scott. Interested hunters can email Tyler Scott at scotty5-18@hotmail.com or text 218-731-0623 for more details.
