Bruce Femling

Bruce Femling, 76, passed away March 10, 2026. Bruce was born October 12, 1949, the oldest of six children born to Cecil and Elaine Femling. During high school, he helped start the golf team, played trumpet in the band, and graduated from PRHS in 1967. Bruce earned a degree in Music Education from Moorhead State University in 1971. 

He was a member of the rock band Marvelous Mirage and played in backup bands for Paul Revere & the Raiders and the Four Tops. Bruce served as a Staff Sergeant in the 188th Army National Guard Band. He worked as a band and choir director at schools in Franklin, Aitkin, and Crosby, Minnesota, and sold cars for several dealerships around the Brainerd area.

Bruce is survived by his wife of 52 years, Carol (Hjelmhaug) Femling; three children, Amy Pederson, Tiffany Femling, and Mark Femling (Melanie Haldeman); five grandchildren, Cooper Pederson, Elsa Pederson, Maisie Pederson, Reagan Norquist, and Xander Norquist; sister Cindy (Jerry) Oliver of Pelican Rapids, MN; brother Brian (Pat) Femling of Savage, MN; sister LeeAnn (Ed) Asker of Mankato, MN; sister Jill (Dean) Ganglehoff of Brainerd, MN; brother Tim (Sharee) Femling of Pelican Rapids, MN; brother-in-law David (Eunice) Hjelmhaug; brother-in-law Doug (Pat) Hjelmhaug; stepmother-in-law Betty Hjelmhaug; and many nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Elaine Femling; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Harvey and Virginia Hjelmhaug; son-in-law Seth Pederson; and nephew Daniel Oliver.
A memorial service will be held at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, Baxter, MN on Saturday, May 30, 2026, with a 10:00 AM visitation and 11:00 AM service with lunch to follow.
