Clark Berg

Clark Dennis Berg, 73, passed away peacefully on April 16th in his home. Clark was born March 20, 1953, in Barnesville, MN, to Clarence & Gladys (Haugtvedt) Berg. He grew up in rural Barnesville and later moved to Pelican Rapids with his family, where he made many lasting memories.

He attended Barnesville and Pelican schools through 9th grade. He later attended tech school in Detroit Lakes, where he received a degree in small engines and marine.

Clark had a lifelong love for John Deere tractors, old cars, and pickups, and a natural knack for bringing them back to life. He worked on them up until the day he died.

Clark met Cindy Budke, and they were married in 1982. A few years later, they welcomed their first son, Colin, and Lucas followed two years later.

He enjoyed taking his boys fishing when they were young and teaching them how to work on old cars and tractors. He also brought them to Rollag every year for the Western Minnesota Steam Threshers Reunion, a tradition they look forward to carrying on.

Clark started doing autobody work for Jerry Leaf in Pelican Rapids. After that, he worked in maintenance at WCT. He later finished his career at Berg Autobody in Barnesville, working alongside his son Lucas.

Later in life, Clark was blessed with three granddaughters: Evelyn, Nova, and Lucy. They were truly his pride and joy. He cherished his time with them, and they always looked forward to his visits—especially when he would bring donut holes and mints.

Clark is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Gladys; his brothers, Roger and Charlie; his sister, Linda; as well as nephews Kenneth Berg and Scott Rice, and niece Tammy Pfeifer.

Clark is survived by his sons, Colin (Bethany) Berg and their daughter Nova, and Lucas (Allison) Berg and their daughters Evelyn and Lucy. His brothers Donald (Deloris) Berg, David (Cathy) Berg, Richard (Linda) Berg, brother-in-law Lynn Strubbe, sister-in-law Gaylene Berg, and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life for Clark will be held on Friday, April 24, at Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church in Pelican Rapids. A visitation hour will begin at 2:00pm, with services beginning at 3:00pm.
