Hazel Ann Wefel was born on February 11, 1943 in Fargo, ND. She was adopted as an infant by Edwin and Hazel Wefel of Wahpeton, North Dakota, and attended elementary and high school in Wahpeton.

On September 24, 1960, Hazel married Gerald Wayne Paulson and had two boys; Jody (Joe) and Mark. She was divorced from Gerald and married Marcus Thorson (deceased), and was later divorced and did not remarry. She had been with her significant other of 30+ years Ronald Standridge until her passing.

Hazel Ann Wefel, age 80, of Blaine MN, died Saturday, February 10, 2024 at White Pines Assisted Living Facility, Blaine, MN.

Hazel was preceded in death by her parents Edwin and Hazel Wefel, with no known siblings. She is survived by two children: Joe (Kathy) Paulson, Ramsey MN; Mark Paulson, Slidell LA; three grandchildren: Katrina Paulson, Joshua Paulson and Kailey Paulson.

Per Hazel’s wishes, her body was donated to the University of Minnesota’s Anatomy Bequest Science program. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
