Donald Ray Schroeder

Donald "Don" Schroeder, 88, of Fergus Falls, died January 29, 2026, at his home under the care of hospice. Don was born July 2, 1937, in Sheldon, ND, to Herman and Pearl (Krueger) Schroeder. 

He graduated from Sheldon High School in 1955 and furthered his education at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, ND, where he met his future wife, Arlette Flaten. Don spent eight years in the United States Navy and served two years of duty in Hawaii. 

Don was employed for 25 years with West Central Turkeys in Pelican Rapids. He was the mayor of Pelican Rapids and sang in the Barbershop Quartet and church choirs. 

He enjoyed singing and fishing. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Leslie; sister-in-law, Billy Joe. 

Don is survived by his wife, Arlette of Fergus Falls; sons, David (Dawn) of Huntington Beach, CA, and Daniel (Chau) of Wilmington, DE; three grandchildren; brothers, Richard (Karen) Schroeder; and numerous nephews and nieces. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 22, 2026 at Calvary Free Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. Don requested to be buried with family in Sheldon, North Dakota at the Sheldon Cemetery. 

The graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 23, 2026. Assistance provided by Olson Funeral Home and Cremation Fergus Falls.
