The Ghost Track Architect: Legendary railroad tycoon James J. Hill mapped out a phantom “paper railroad” simply to block his competitors. Thanks to his corporate “spoiler” strategy, Pelican Rapids became a permanent dead end. This illustration originally ran with his obituary in the June 8, 1916, edition of the Pelican Rapids Press.
