Allan "Al" Sandvig

Allan "Al" Sandvig, age 87, of Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, passed away peacefully at Pelican Valley Senior Living on August 12, 2026. He is now reunited with his beloved wife, Faye Olson–Sandvig, who passed away just nine months prior.Al was born to Leonard and Marie Sandvig. A talented woodworker and craftsman, Al spent much of his life remodeling houses, restoring furniture in his woodshop, and taking cross–country road trips with Faye to visit friends and family. It was during his years working as an over–the–road truck driver that he stopped at the Millpond Café in Pelican Rapids and met Faye, sparking a beautiful chapter of partnership, family, and a shared life on the land. A true adventurer, Al even convinced Faye to join him on the open road, enjoying motorcycle rides on his Honda Goldwing. Al was widely known for his steady nature, his creative hands, and his quiet dedication to his loved ones. He always looked forward to visits to the farm by his children, siblings, and extended family. Al especially enjoyed taking on the role of "Grandpa Al" to Faye's beloved grandchildren—Jacob, Kya, Thea, and Isaac—proudly watching them grow into young adults.He is survived by his children, Timothy (Laura) Sandvig and Lisa (Daniel) Clemmens; his stepchildren, Robert Olson, Michael (Brenda) Olson, Karl (Jane) Olson, and Peter Olson; and his siblings, Wayne Sandvig, Retha Sandvig Lange, and Lyle Sandvig. He also leaves behind his many cherished grandchildren, great–grandchildren, and extended family members.Al was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Marie Sandvig; his loving wife, Faye; his son, Gary Sandvig; and his grandchildren, Shanda and Berant Sandvig.In accordance with Al's wishes, no memorial service will be held. His family extends their deepest gratitude to the nurses and staff from Hospice and Pelican Valley Senior Living for their compassionate care and comfort during his final days.
